The Ledo Laboratory investigates how brain immune cells and immunometabolic mechanisms shape brain function in health and disease. We are particularly interested in how brain immune cells communicate with neurons and other cell types to regulate synaptic function, plasticity, and memory.
Our work combines molecular, cellular, systems neuroscience, and multi-omic approaches to uncover how brain immune cell signaling and metabolic states influence cognition and contribute to neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. On the translational side, we are developing next-generation therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer’s disease designed to harness and modulate brain immune pathways. By integrating fundamental discovery with therapeutic development, we aim to identify mechanisms that can be leveraged to preserve or restore brain function.
